CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting works by fixed applicator placement, not a moving handpiece. The device stays put on the treatment area for the full cycle, roughly 35-45 minutes depending on the applicator model, cooling the fat layer to trigger apoptosis (programmed fat cell death) without harming the skin above it. Once the cycle ends, the provider removes the applicator and does a brief manual massage of the area, which helps break up the crystallized fat and may improve results. If your session involved the practitioner moving a device continuously over your skin for just a minute or two, that was not CoolSculpting. It may have been a different body contouring technology entirely. Worth asking your provider directly what device and protocol was used, and confirming with the treating office if you're unsure. CoolSculpting also carries a rare but recognized risk called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where the treated fat actually enlarges instead of shrinking and may require surgical correction, so it's reasonable to discuss that possibility too. Visible results typically appear over one to four months as the body clears the treated fat cells.
