Do I Have to Wear a Compression Garment After Zeltiq CoolSculpting?

Compression garments are not required after a CoolSculpting treatment. With CoolSculpting, the fat reduction is gradual and less than the fat reduction with liposuction and there is usually not as much swelling as you would have with liposuction. Sometimes patients still wear them for comfort after CoolSculpting, but it will not significantly affect your end result.

Clinical Context

CoolSculpting works differently than liposuction, which is why the aftercare differs. Liposuction physically removes fat, leaving a cavity that needs compression to help skin re-adhere to underlying tissue and limit fluid buildup. CoolSculpting instead freezes fat cells, which your body gradually clears over the following weeks to months through normal metabolic processes. Because no tissue cavity is created, there's no structural need for compression afterward — any garment use is simply for personal comfort.
