Does Freezing Fat Make More Sense Than Using Radio Waves to Remove It?

CoolSculpting has been FDA cleared for the permanent removal of fat cells through cryolipolysis. It normally reduces 20-25% of the fat cells in a single treatment. Velashape requires multiple treatments with results that are usually not substantial nor permanent. Velashape does not remove fat cells. You should talk to a licensed professional to get a consultation to find out what is the best treatment for your needs.

Clinical Context

Fat-freezing and radiofrequency work in different ways. Cryolipolysis cools fat cells until they break down and are gradually cleared by the body, which is why results build slowly over weeks and don't require ongoing treatments. Radiofrequency devices heat the skin to encourage collagen tightening and short-term fluid changes, but they don't destroy fat cells the same way, so results tend to be milder and less lasting. Mild numbness or tingling after cooling treatments is common and usually temporary.
