Clinical Context
Removing breast implants is more than pulling out a device. Surgeons also need to evaluate the scar tissue capsule that formed around it, which can be thin, thickened, calcified, or tightly contracted. Imaging before surgery can suggest a rupture or fluid buildup, but the surgeon often can't fully assess the capsule until surgery is underway.
