How soon can you get Coolsculpting after childbirth? I had c-section. Can I get my upper stomach done?

In our practice we recommend waiting 6 months post partum before coolsculpting treatment. Although your incision will be healed, the scar is still maturing up to 1 year and may be sensitive to the suction associated with treatment. It is also important to rule out any hernias prior to treatment. As always, please see an experienced provider for an individualized assessment and be aware that coolsculpting does not treat rectus diastasis, skin laxity or cellulite.

Clinical Context

A C-section incision passes through skin, fat, and the fascia covering the abdominal muscles, and the muscles themselves are moved aside to reach the uterus. These deeper layers need time to heal and regain strength, which is different from a vaginal delivery, where the abdominal wall isn't surgically opened. That internal healing - not the fat layer CoolSculpting targets - is why C-section patients are usually asked to wait longer before treatment, and why your provider should confirm the area has healed and is hernia-free first.
