I had 3rd Breast Augmentation. I am opted for a staged revision. Is ADM a good idea?
There are many approaches for this. Most plastic surgeons agree that acellular dermal matrix (ADM) can reduce recurrent capsular contracture. It can also help to provide additional tissue when the remaining breast tissue is thin (common after capsulectomies to treat previous capsular contracture). You should discuss your surgeon's comfort level with these techniques and tools.
Clinical Context
Acellular dermal matrix (ADM) is donor tissue that has been processed to remove cells, leaving a supportive scaffold. Once placed in the breast pocket, your body's own blood vessels and cells gradually grow into it, integrating it as living tissue. Surgeons use ADM in revision surgery because it may lower the chance of another capsular contracture and can add helpful coverage over thin tissue after implant removal or capsulectomy.
