I Had Zeltiq Done 2 Wks Ago and I Am Uneven on One Side. What Should I Do?
CoolSculpting can cause some initial swelling post-treatment and the swelling can be unequal on each side. Swelling can take a few weeks to resolve. Results from CoolSculpting normally appear gradually over 1 to 4 months as swelling resolves and the treated fat is cleared.
The unevenness should resolve over the next few months, and if it does not, you should consult your provider. In rare cases, an area can develop a firm, enlarged appearance called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which may need to be evaluated and sometimes corrected surgically, so it is worth having your provider check any persistent asymmetry.
Clinical Context
Some swelling asymmetry after CoolSculpting is common, especially if the applicator fit differently on each side or one area had more fat to begin with. Swelling can shift daily depending on hydration and activity, so it's normal for one side to look puffier some days. True results take 4-6 weeks to show as swelling resolves, so it's too early to judge final shape. If unevenness persists past that window, follow up with your provider.
