Is There a Way to Have Minor Liposuction on the Chin with a Fast Recovery Time or Is There a Faster Way to Get a Similar Result?

Submental liposuction typically has a short recovery period. In our Bay Area practice we perform it as an outpatient procedure. We ask patients to wear a compression garment for several weeks and there can be some bruising and swelling that may last about 2 weeks.

Clinical Context

Swelling and bruising under the chin can look more noticeable than expected simply because the treated area is small and the skin there is thin. Most patients see visible puffiness improve steadily over the first one to two weeks, especially with consistent use of the compression garment. Sleeping with your head slightly elevated for the first few days can help reduce swelling. Contact our office if you notice increasing pain, firmness, or uneven swelling during recovery.
