Is There a Weight Requirment Max and Min?

CoolSculpting is ideal for patients who are within 15-20lbs of their ideal weight and who maintain diet and exercise. It is designed to target pockets of stubborn fat. CoolSculpting is not designed to be a weight loss procedure.

The device works by cooling fat cells until they break down, and your body then clears them out gradually over the following weeks. Most patients start noticing changes around 3 weeks after treatment, with fuller results by 2 to 3 months. If you're carrying more weight than that ideal range, the technology still works the same way, but the change will be less noticeable relative to your overall shape, and I may suggest a different approach first. This is worth discussing openly at your consultation so we can set realistic expectations together.

Clinical Context

CoolSculpting isn't weighed against a scale number, but body mass index does factor into who's considered a good candidate. Clinics generally look for patients within a reasonable range of their goal weight, since the treatment removes stubborn pockets rather than significant volume. If someone is far outside typical BMI guidelines, the cooling technology still works the same way, but results may look less noticeable or a provider might recommend other options first.
