Labiaplasty Recovery - How Long Does It Take?
Thanks for the great question - We tell our patients that labiaplasty (for just the minora) tend to recover quickly. We use dissolving sutures which typically are gone in a few weeks. There is usually a moderate amount of swelling for the first 2 - 3 weeks. Usually patients can resume intimate activity at about a month.
Clinical Context
The labia minora have a rich blood and lymphatic supply, so swelling appears quickly and takes longer to fade than the incisions do to heal. Dissolving stitches close the surface, but deeper tissue keeps healing beneath it for several weeks. Waiting before resuming intimate activity gives that tissue time to strengthen fully, reducing the chance of irritation or reopening while it looks healed on the outside.
