Lipoma Removal - Would Surgery Require an Overnight Hospital Stay?
Typically lipoma removal can be done on an outpatient basis. Many times we can remove lipomas in our procedure room under local anesthesia.

How straightforward a lipoma removal is depends more on its size and location than on the fact that it's a lipoma. Small, shallow lumps on the arm or back are usually simple to remove. Larger lipomas, or ones located deep in muscle or near nerves, may need more careful dissection, which can mean a longer procedure, more swallowing risk, or temporary numbness near the site.
