Looking into different treatments for my knees. I need advice on deciding between all the different treatments. CoolSculpting?
It is difficult to answer without a photo for a general idea of how much volume in that area and whether or not you have associated skin laxity. One option would be coolsculpting if you do not have much skin laxity. Results with coolsculpting typically appear gradually over one to four months, and while temporary numbness, bruising, or swelling can occur, there is a rare risk of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, an unusual firm swelling of the treated area that sometimes needs surgery to correct. You can also consider kybella for faster results but there is a little more downtime upfront. Some patients are able to get some skin retraction with kybella. Multiple rounds of treatment may be required with both coolsculpting and kybella. Lastly, liposuction can surgically remove the excess volume.
Clinical Context
The knee area has thin skin close to bone, so results depend on technique and healing. CoolSculpting freezes fat cells gradually; swelling and temporary numbness can occur but usually resolve. Kybella breaks down fat chemically and often causes more swelling than CoolSculpting, with results appearing over multiple treatments. Liposuction removes fat directly and gives more shaping control, but leaves small incisions and relies on the skin re-draping smoothly afterward. A consultation and photos help determine which option fits your anatomy best.
