Right Implant Falls into Armpit, It's Soft; The Left is Very Hard and It Seems to Have Stayed Very High. Surgery?
It is not normal for an implant to feel firm or painful. The left side could have capsular contracture. The treatment for this is typically removal of the scar tissue and replacement of the implant. It can come back. Your other side may require correction of the pocket to keep the implant from falling into your armpit as you describe. It is important that you feel confident with your surgeon and his or her ability to achieve your desired results. It never hurts to get a second opinion.
Clinical Context
Two different problems are showing up on two different timelines here: lateral displacement toward the armpit tends to appear gradually over weeks to months as the implant settles into a poorly supported pocket, while a hard, high-riding implant often signals capsular contracture, which can develop steadily or seem to tighten fairly quickly. Because the causes differ, correction usually isn't urgent but shouldn't be ignored indefinitely. A surgeon examining both sides can outline realistic timing for revision, typically involving pocket repair, scar tissue removal, and implant repositioning.
