What is a Body Lift?

We perform body lift procedures frequently. A body lift includes an abdominoplasty (resection of skin and fat from the abdomen and tightening of the abdominal wall muscles). But there is additional tissue resected from the flanks and and the back. It typically requires more drains and a longer recovery. If you've lost significant weight it may be the most effective way to completely transform the way your body looks.

Clinical Context

A body lift is most often considered after major weight loss, when loose skin affects more than just the abdomen. Removing this excess tissue can improve rashes, skin irritation, and mobility, and make exercise and daily hygiene easier. Because more skin and tissue are removed than in a standard tummy tuck, recovery takes longer and drains stay in longer. Some patients have the whole procedure done at once, while others split it into stages depending on their anatomy and health.
