Zeltiq - is Bruising Correlated with Outcome?

Some people don't bruise at all with CoolSculpting treatments while others do have bruising. It does not change the outcome of the results. Some people just tend to bruise more easily than others and sometimes certain medications can cause more bruising. You can normally see an oval-shaped area of redness after an applicator is taken off and the area is massaged. That is a better indicator of the area that was treated. It takes 1-4 months to see your results, so keep that in mind also.

Clinical Context

Bruising after CoolSculpting comes from the applicator's suction pulling skin and small blood vessels into the cooling panel, plus some capillary sensitivity to cold. This is separate from what happens deeper in the fat layer, where treated cells break down gradually over the following weeks through natural cell-death processes. Because these two processes are unrelated, having little or no bruising doesn't mean the treatment worked less well, and having more bruising doesn't mean it worked better.
