There is some discussion regarding the effectiveness of massage or positioning garments. Most surgeons agree that they likely do not cause harm. It is unlikely that, if properly used, they are contributing to pain or swelling. Some surgeons utilize these tools with the concept that they may speed improvement in implant positioning. If you're still within a few months of your surgery some of this swelling is normal and will continue to improve over time.
Clinical Context
When implants sit under the chest muscle, they often look high at first and gradually settle into a more natural position over weeks to months as tissues adjust. Some surgeons use compression straps or supportive bras during this period, though their actual effect on settling is debated. Swelling after augmentation is normal and typically the last thing to resolve, often taking several months to fully subside as the tissues heal.
