Can Dysport Be Used After a Botox Treatment?

These products are very similar in their mechanism of action and side effects. They can both normally be used in the same patient without any issues. Usually waiting the normal 3-4 months between treatments should be sufficient. Your injector can determine how much of the product you will need based on your muscle movement.

Clinical Context

Toxin effects fade as nerve endings regrow their connections to muscle fibers, a process that happens gradually and at a different pace for each person. That's why the 3-4 month window varies from patient to patient. Botox and Dysport work through the same basic mechanism, so switching between them is generally safe once the earlier treatment has worn off. Your injector will assess your muscle movement at each visit to determine dosing, regardless of which product was used before.
