Can Hair Around Breast Nipple Be Removed by Laser?
Laser hair removal is an effective way to achieve long-term hair reduction in virtually any location. IPL or ND-yag are the types I use in my practice most commonly for hair removal. I have also used products from Lumenis and Cutera with good results. If the hair on your breast is blond or if you have very dark skin then laser treatments may be less effective. In addition there are usually multiple treatments required. Risks include treatment site reactions and discomfort.
Clinical Context
Skin around the nipple and areola is thinner and often more pigmented than skin on the arms or legs, so laser settings that work well elsewhere may need to be adjusted here to avoid burns or lightening of the skin. This area also tends to be more sensitive to the laser's heat than other treatment sites. Because hair growth can be influenced by hormones, some regrowth after a treatment course is common and doesn't necessarily mean the laser wasn't working.
