How hard is it to remove a chin implant

Implants made from materials such as Gore-Tex, on the other hand, can be more challenging to remove because significant tissue ingrowth can occur within the implant, making it difficult to separate from the surrounding native tissue.

Clinical Context

The difference relates to how each material bonds with tissue. Silicone is smooth and non-porous, so the body forms a thin capsule around it rather than growing into it, which usually makes it easier to lift out. Porous materials like Gore-Tex or porous polyethylene have an open structure that allows blood vessels and collagen to grow directly into the implant over time. This tissue integration means removing these implants can require more careful, gradual dissection to separate them safely from surrounding structures.
