How long does Dysport last?
Dysport generally lasts about 3-4 months, though this varies by individual metabolism, muscle strength, and dose used. As the product wears off, muscle activity gradually returns and expressions go back to baseline.
On dosing near the eyes: appropriate unit counts depend on the specific muscles targeted and the treating injector's assessment, so what's right for one patient may be too much or too little for another. A consultation and exam are the best way to know if a given dose is appropriate for your anatomy.
A temporary difficulty holding the eyes open in bright sunlight can occur if the muscles used to squint are relaxed along with the crow's feet muscles. Some patients also notice under-eye lines becoming more visible after crow's feet treatment. This is often due to compensatory hyperactivity: when one part of a muscle group is selectively weakened, adjacent untreated muscles work harder to compensate, which can bring out lines that were less noticeable before. This resolves as the Dysport wears off.
Clinical Context
Dysport blocks the signal between nerve and muscle, so the muscle temporarily can't contract. Over time, the nerve regrows small connections to the muscle, which is why movement gradually returns rather than the product itself breaking down in place. How long this takes varies by muscle strength, treatment area, and individual factors, which is why duration differs from person to person even at similar doses.
