I am 17 and weight 198 and being bullied because of my weight is it safe to consider liposuction this would be my last resort.

I am sorry you're having to deal with bullying. Unfortunately liposuction is not an effective means to weight loss. Diet and exercise are your best tools now. Weight loss at an early age can have great benefits including decreased risks of health problems and the cosmetic benefit of your skin being mo more elastic meaning you may be able to avoid loose hanging skin more common in older patients with large amounts of weight loss. Report the bullying and have confidence in yourself.

Clinical Context

Body-contouring procedures like liposuction are generally reserved for adults who have finished growing and kept a stable weight for months. Surgeons also look for skin and tissue to have had time to adjust to lifestyle changes first. Because you're still a minor, most surgeons would want a parent involved and would recommend focusing on nutrition and activity now, since surgery reshapes existing tissue rather than replacing the metabolic benefits of losing weight.
