I Had a Full Face, neck and Coronal Brow Lift 7 Months Ago. If I Lost 5-10 Lbs, Would This Weaken my Face Lift?

In our Dublin, CA office we perform face and neck lifts routinely. Many of our patients have lost significant weight BEFORE the procedure and seek facial rejuvenation to treat loose skin associated with weight loss. For you and what we tell patients routinely is that procedures like this are best when patients are at their ideal body weight. Usually small changes in weight (up or down) of 5-15 lbs don't really make substantial changes to the appearance of a face lift.

Clinical Context

After a facelift, the tightening of the underlying tissue is what holds the result — weight change mainly affects the fat layer sitting over it. Losing a modest amount, such as 5 to 10 pounds, usually doesn't visibly change your face. Larger or faster weight loss can reduce facial fat and make cheeks or temples look thinner or more hollow, even months after surgery. Keeping your weight steady, especially while your face is still settling, helps protect your results long-term.
