I Would Like to Thin my Body Hairs by Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal reduces hairs in the growing phase. Hair at any given time can be in 3 different phases of growth, so it is difficult to control whether hair is thinned or completely reduced. Initially, the reduction can be uniform in appearance, but the hair reduction is normally patchy.

Clinical Context

Hair grows in cycles: active growth (anagen), transition (catagen), and resting (telogen). Laser hair removal only works on hairs in the anagen phase, since that's when the follicle holds pigment the laser can target. Because hairs on the same area of skin are never all in the same phase at once, a single treatment misses many follicles. This is why multiple sessions, spaced weeks apart, are needed to catch hairs as they cycle into the growth phase.
