Masseter muscle Dysport injection: will this bulge go away?
It's difficult to tell without evaluating you in person but based on your description, it sounds like there are still some areas of the masseter that have not been fully relaxed with the dysport treatment as it only appears when your eating (and using the muscle). It's best to follow up with your injector at 2 weeks. You may need additional units. However, if you choose not to do anything, your muscle should return to baseline after the dysport wears off.
Clinical Context
The masseter has more than one muscle layer, and Dysport doesn't always reach every fiber evenly. If some areas are undertreated, they can still contract fully during chewing, which may look like a bulge even though the rest of the muscle is relaxed at rest. This is a common, treatable issue that a touch-up dose usually resolves. Less common side effects from masseter Botox/Dysport include temporary jaw weakness or difficulty chewing if the dose runs high, but these are uncommon with proper dosing.
