Ok to Shave Between Laser Hair Removal Appointments?

You may shave between your laser hair removal treatments. It is also usually recommended that you shave the day before or the day of your treatment as well. Things that you should not do in between treatments are plucking, waxing, tweezing, bleaching, or depilatory hair removal creams.

Clinical Context

The laser targets melanin in the hair follicle, using heat to damage the structure that regrows hair. That follicle sits below the skin, so shaving only removes the visible shaft above the surface and leaves the target intact for your next session. Plucking, waxing, and depilatory creams pull the hair out at the root or dissolve it, removing the very structure the laser needs to find. That's why shaving is fine between visits but anything that disturbs the root works against the treatment's timing and reduces what the laser has to act on.
