Pain After Breast Lift and Augmentation - Is This Normal?
Post-op issues should always be addressed with your treating surgeon. In my Bay Area practice, we typically do not recommend ibuprofen for post-op pain in the immediate post-op period as it can contribute to post-operative bleeding which can be a factor in post-op complications.
Clinical Context
Combining a breast lift with implant placement means healing from two procedures at once. The lift tightens skin and tissue, which can feel like a tight, pulling soreness, while the implant pocket—particularly under the muscle—can cause a deeper, cramping ache as muscle adjusts. Swelling from both procedures may also cause temporary numbness or odd sensations in the skin. Because of these combined effects, recovery discomfort after a lift with augmentation often lasts longer or feels different than after either procedure alone.
