Tissue expander disparity, is this okay?
Tissue expanders are not designed to look or feel like natural breasts they are designed to stretch the skin so there is enough room to fit the full sized implant underneath. Often after bilateral mastectomies the tissue expanders look and feel different from each other, this is normal. The disparities between breasts are accounted for at the surgery to replace the expander with the permanent implants, giving the breasts a more symmetric appearance and natural feel.
Clinical Context
Expanders are temporary devices, so it's expected for them to look firmer, higher, or less matched than natural breasts. This asymmetry during the expansion phase does not predict how symmetric the final result will be. At the exchange surgery, the surgeon can adjust implant size, pocket position, and shape—often with fat grafting—to bring the breasts into better balance. Most differences seen now are corrected at that stage.
