What Can Be Done to Reduce the Chances of Droopy Eyelids After a Dysport Treatment for Crow's Feet?

Treatment at the crow's feet will not usually result in ptosis. Eyebrow ptosis is normally due to treatment at the forehead and eyelid ptosis is normally due to treatment at the glabella. To reduce chances of side effects, although sometimes unavoidable even with skilled injectors, choose an experienced injector with knowledge of facial anatomy and of the product being used. Diluting the product can also contribute to unwanted side effects due to the spread of the product.

Clinical Context

Eyelid or brow heaviness after Botox or Dysport usually comes from injections near the forehead or between the brows, where the toxin can affect muscles controlling lid position. The muscle treated for crow's feet, orbicularis oculi, sits at the outer eye corner and doesn't control lid height. If heaviness develops after a crow's feet-only treatment, it's worth reviewing whether other areas were treated or whether the product may have spread beyond the injection site.
