What is recovery like for Dysport? Is it a few hours or will bruising and swelling require a longer downtime?

Normally after a Dysport treatment, you will have some redness and swelling from the injections that looks like bee stings. This normally resolves within an hour. Sometimes bruising can occur, but it can usually be easily covered with some makeup. The typical instructions given to patients after treatment are to avoid vigorous activity or exercise for 12 hours and to stay upright for 4 hours. Other than that, the downtime is minimal.

Clinical Context

Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is FDA-approved for cosmetic use and has a safety profile similar to other botulinum toxin products like Botox. Mild redness, swelling, or occasional bruising at injection sites is expected and temporary. Staying upright and avoiding strenuous exercise for a period after treatment are standard precautions many injectors recommend to reduce the chance of the product spreading beyond the treated muscles, though exact timing can vary by provider.
