Will hirudoid cream dissolve Juvederm Voluma?
Voluma is a hyaluronic acid gel filler and can only be dissolved by hyaluronidase, and your body metabolizes it over time. Hyaluronidase is injected where the product is injected in order to dissolve it. A topical cream will not dissolve the product.
The reason is depth and chemistry. Voluma sits deep, often near the cheekbone or jawline, well below the skin layers a cream like Hirudoid can reach, and it's chemically cross-linked to hold its shape and volume for many months. A cream applied to the surface simply has no way to get down there or break those bonds. If you're unhappy with your results or want the filler removed, the right approach is a hyaluronidase injection done in the office, not a topical product. Bring your concerns to your consultation so we can plan the right correction.
Clinical Context
Topical creams only affect the skin's outer layers. Voluma is injected much deeper, often near the cheekbone or jawbone, well below where a cream like Hirudoid can reach. Its hyaluronic acid gel is also chemically cross-linked, making it dense and long-lasting so it holds volume for many months. Dissolving it requires hyaluronidase, an enzyme that specifically breaks down hyaluronic acid, injected directly into the filler. A surface cream has no way to reach that depth or break those bonds.
