Wondering if 7 days is too soon to be discouraged about Dysport?
Seven days is too soon to judge. Dysport works by blocking the nerve signal to the muscle, but that process takes time to fully set in, typically up to two weeks for maximum effect. So what you're seeing now may not be the final result. If you're still noticing muscle movement or the lines are still active at the two week mark, that's when it's worth going back for an assessment, and sometimes a touch-up with additional units is appropriate. Keep in mind that etched-in lines present before treatment, especially deeper ones, may not fully disappear even with a well-dosed, fully-kicked-in Dysport treatment, since those are more a function of skin quality than muscle activity. In that case, filler or a resurfacing laser can help soften what neuromodulator alone can't. Without an exam I can't say which category you fall into, so check back in with your injector once you've hit the two-week mark.
Clinical Context
Neuromodulators like Dysport work by blocking nerve signals to the treated muscle, but this happens gradually rather than all at once. Many patients notice some softening within the first few days, with the fuller effect developing over one to two weeks as the toxin takes hold. Muscle strength and individual response can affect how quickly change becomes visible. If lines are still active after two weeks, a follow-up visit lets your injector decide whether additional treatment is needed.
