Based on these pictures am I a Botox jaw reduction candidate?
Masseter Botox for jaw slimming works best on people with visible muscle bulk from clenching or grinding, and that's something we assess by feel as much as by sight. We ask patients to clench their jaw so we can palpate the masseter muscle directly and gauge its strength and size, since a strong, hypertrophic muscle responds differently than a jawline that's wide due to bone structure or fat distribution. That distinction matters because Botox only shrinks muscle, it won't change underlying bone width or submental fat.
An in-person exam is really the only reliable way to know if you're a good candidate. Bring up any teeth grinding or TMJ symptoms too, since those often go hand in hand with masseter enlargement and can affect dosing and outcome. A board-certified plastic surgeon can evaluate your jaw structure directly and let you know whether Botox alone will get you the result you're picturing, or whether something else is driving the shape you're seeing.
Clinical Context
Masseter Botox works by relaxing the chewing muscle, so the jaw gradually narrows as the muscle shrinks with disuse. Results build slowly, becoming most noticeable after several weeks, and generally last a few months before fading, requiring maintenance treatments to keep the slimmer look. It does not change jawbone width or fat volume, so patients whose fullness comes mainly from bone structure may need a different approach, such as jaw contouring surgery, to achieve their desired shape.
