Can you get Botox 1 week after the flu shot?
It is safe to get Botox after a flu shot, provided that you are feeling well. Botox and vaccines work in completely different ways, so there is no biological interaction between them, and waiting a week is more than enough time either way. The real reason I ask patients to feel normal first is practical, not medical: a flu shot can cause soreness, fatigue, or a low-grade fever for a day or two, and if those symptoms overlap with your Botox appointment, it becomes hard to tell what caused what. If you develop swelling, redness, or unusual soreness after treatment that doesn't fit the typical mild bruising or tenderness at the injection sites, give our office a call so we can sort out whether it's related to the vaccine or the Botox.
Clinical Context
Botox and flu vaccines work through completely different mechanisms, so there's no biological interaction between them. The main reason to wait until you feel well is practical: a flu shot can cause mild soreness, fatigue, or low-grade fever for a day or so, and these symptoms could be mistaken for a reaction to the Botox injection. Feeling normal before your appointment simply makes it easier to know what caused any post-treatment symptoms.
