Botox Injections for Sweating - How Long Do the Effects Last?
I know that Botox Cosmetic can last a few months, but how long would it last when used to treat excessive sweating?
botox for hyperhidrosis
In my practice I have sucessfully used Botox to treat individuals with excess sweating. There is some variability in the length of relief patients can get but most of my patients have seen 6 months - 1 year. I hope this helps. Steven Williams, MD
Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes targeted facial muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. It works by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction. Results typically appear within 3–7 days and last 3–4 months, though some patients report longer duration with consistent treatment. Common treatment areas include the glabella (frown lines), forehead, and lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet). Dosing is measured in units and varies by treatment area and muscle mass.
Patient safety protocols, including operating in accredited facilities with board-certified anesthesiologists, significantly reduce surgical risk.
