Can I get Steroid Injections for Decreasing Nose Bridge Height?
Steroid injection is not a safe way to correct nasal contour. It is difficult to control the end result and you are likely to have skin hypopigmentation, possible graft infection and tissue atrophy. It would be much better to address the position, shape and size of the graft. This would likely require additional surgery.
Clinical Context
Nasal bridge height is determined by the underlying cartilage, bone, and any grafts placed during surgery, not by the skin covering them. Steroid injections are sometimes used elsewhere in the body to soften thickened scar tissue, but they do not change bone or cartilage. Injecting steroids into the nose to try to lower its profile can thin the skin and cause visible discoloration without correcting the actual structural cause. Changing nasal height usually requires addressing the framework itself, which typically means additional surgery.
