Did I Receive the Correct Amount of Botox?
Whether your dose was correct depends on your specific muscle strength and the areas treated, so without an exam it's hard to say definitively — general ranges exist, but every face is different. For the forehead and glabella, many injectors use somewhere in the range of 15-25 units per area, though heavier muscles or deeper lines may need more. Two days out is too early to judge results. Botox takes time to bind and block the neuromuscular signal; most patients start seeing softening around 4 days, with the full effect settling in by 2-4 weeks. If you're still seeing significant movement or asymmetry at that 2-week mark, that's the right time to go back for a touch-up rather than assume the dose was wrong. A board-certified plastic surgeon or experienced injector can look at your specific pattern of movement and adjust from there.
Clinical Context
Judging whether your dose was right involves a trade-off: enough product to soften movement in the treated area, but not so much that it spreads into nearby muscles and causes heaviness or asymmetry. Because Botox blocks nerve signals gradually rather than instantly, results take days to appear, which can make a correctly dosed treatment look underwhelming at first. Muscle size also matters — a thin, broad muscle like the forehead needs a different amount than the smaller muscles between the brows.
