Difference between Botox and Dysport? Will either work for my issue?

Botox and Dysport are both botulinum toxin neuromodulators that work the same way: they temporarily block nerve signals to the muscle, so the muscle relaxes and the overlying skin smooths out. The main practical differences are onset and diffusion. Dysport tends to kick in a bit faster and can spread slightly more in the tissue, which some surgeons like for larger areas like the forehead. Botox is more concentrated and precise, useful around the eyes where you want less spread. Longevity is similar for both, typically a few months depending on dose and your individual muscle activity.

Without seeing your photo or examining your muscle pattern in person, I can't tell you which will address your specific concern, whether that's forehead lines, a brow lift effect, or something else. Both can achieve a modest chemical brow lift by relaxing the muscles that pull the brow down. Bring your photo to a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon so they can assess your anatomy and recommend dosing and placement.

Clinical Context

Both toxins work the same way: they block the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract, so the muscle relaxes and the skin above it smooths out. The effect fades over time as the nerve ending naturally recovers its ability to signal the muscle again, usually within a few months. Botox and Dysport differ slightly in how the molecule is formulated, which can affect how quickly they start working and how far they spread from the injection site.
