Does Botox Work on Horizontal Forehead Creases?

I am 38 years old. I am desperate to find a non-invasive procedure to help reduce the lines going accross my forehead. I have four (two are very small) but am very depressed about how old I feel I look because of them. Does Botox work on this type of crease?

Botox for Forehead Lines and Wrinkles

Thank you for your question. Forehead lines and wrinkles can safely and effectively be treated with Botox or Dysport (alternative brands of botulinium toxin). Botulinium toxins inhibit muscle contraction which minimizes the appearance of overlying skin folds and wrinkles. Horizontal lines on the forehead are caused by repeated activity of the underlying muscle (frontalis) making then an ideal target for Botox/Dysport. In our San Francisco Bay Area practice we commonly treat forehead lines/wrinkles at the same time as the lines/wrinkles between the brows (glabella) and around the outside of the eyes (crow’s feet) to promote a refreshed, younger looking upper face. One possible side effect of using Botox or Dysport to treat forehead lines/wrinkles is lowering the eyebrow (brow ptosis). To minimize the risks of treatment visit the office of a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon. I hope this helps.
