How Do I Fix my Over-filled Lips?

Significant swelling can be very common after having Restylane injected at the lips. The swelling will continue to reduce over the next several days, so I suggest you give it some time. If after 2 weeks, you still feel that they are too large, you may ask your injector about hyaluronidase which is a product that will dissolve the filler. Most of the time, patience and massage end up being sufficient. Swelling is usually most prominent when waking up in the morning, so head elevation can help reduce swelling.

Clinical Context

Lips swell more than other areas after filler because the skin there is thin and highly vascular, and hyaluronic acid naturally attracts water once placed. Needle trauma also causes temporary local swelling on top of the added volume. This means your lips right after treatment look larger than their final result. As swelling and fluid resolve over the following days to two weeks, the true, softer shape becomes visible, so it's best to wait before judging the final size.
