How Long After Botox Can Full Effects Be Seen?

Botox usually begins to work 3-7 days after the initial injection and its full effects can be noticed at 14 days. This gradual onset happens because it takes time for the product to block the nerve signals that tell the muscle to contract. It has a gradual onset and it wears off gradually as well, so you shouldn't expect an overnight change. You may notice some areas smoothing out faster than others, since different muscles are different sizes and strengths, and that's normal, not a sign of a problem. Its effects normally last 3-4 months for most patients. If you're still seeing significant movement in the treated area after two weeks, or if you notice asymmetry that concerns you, it's worth bringing up at a follow-up visit so we can assess whether anything needs adjusting.

Clinical Context

Botox doesn't work all at once—it gradually blocks nerve signals to the muscle over about two weeks. Some areas, like around the eyes, may look smoother before others, such as the forehead, simply because the muscles are different sizes and strengths. This is a normal part of how the treatment settles in, not a sign that anything went wrong. Results typically last three to four months before another treatment is needed.
