How long after Botox will you know if your eye lid will droop?

The final effects of your botox treatment will be seen around two weeks after treatment. If you have not experienced eye lid dropping by this time, it is highly unlikely that this will occur.

Eyelid drooping happens when a small amount of the product spreads beyond the muscles we're treating and affects the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid. It usually shows up within the first week, often sooner, as the botox takes effect. Avoid rubbing the treated area and stay upright for a few hours afterward, since this lowers the chance of spread. If drooping does occur, it is temporary and will resolve on its own as the botox wears off over the following weeks. If you notice any drooping, let me know so we can talk through options while it resolves.

Clinical Context

Eyelid drooping after Botox occurs when a small amount of the product spreads beyond the treated muscle to affect the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid. This is uncommon and usually related to injection technique rather than anything you did. Avoiding rubbing the area and staying upright for a few hours after treatment can help minimize this risk. If it does occur, it is temporary and resolves as the Botox effect wears off.
