How long does Restylane lip filler take to go away?
Restylane in the lips typically lasts around six months, though this varies with your metabolism, how much was placed, and how active your lips are (a lot of talking and puckering can break down filler faster). Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane are gradually broken down by an enzyme your body already produces, so the fading is a natural process, not a sign anything went wrong. If the shape or volume bothers you before it fades on its own, hyaluronidase can dissolve it, usually with visible softening within a couple of days and full effect shortly after. Without seeing your lips directly, it is hard to say whether what you are noticing is normal settling or something an injector should adjust. I would follow up with whoever performed the treatment, or a board-certified plastic surgeon, to have it examined in person before deciding on dissolving.
Clinical Context
Lips are thin, mobile, and richly supplied with blood, which is why filler here often looks and feels different from filler in the cheeks or jawline. The constant motion from talking and eating, plus better circulation, means Restylane in the lips tends to soften a bit sooner than in less mobile areas. In the first week or two, lips may look fuller than their final result because the gel temporarily draws in extra water before settling.
