How Soon Can I Get Another Round of Restylane Injected into Lips?
Generally speaking 0.5mL of Restylane is a conservative amount and a good volume to start with for lip augmentation. Lips are always swollen for several days to a week after treatment. Some patients get used to the swollen volume and end up wanting more product when the swelling subsides. We typically have patients wait seven to ten days before injecting additional Restylane to allow ample time for the swelling to resolve.
Clinical Context
Hyaluronic acid gel is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and holds water in the tissue after it's injected. Combined with normal needle-related swelling, this makes lips look fuller in the days right after treatment than they will once everything settles. Giving the area time to calm down lets you see the true result before deciding whether more filler is needed, which helps avoid over-filling lips that haven't reached their final shape yet.
