I had two vials of Restylane and my lip size has barely increased. Any suggestions?
Two full syringes of Restylane should produce a noticeable change in most patients, so a few things could explain the modest result. First, terminology: Restylane comes in "syringes," not vials, and syringes come in different sizes. If half-syringes were used, the total volume injected may be less than you think, worth confirming with your injector. Second, lip tissue varies in how it responds. Thicker, more fibrous lips resist expansion more than thinner ones, so the same volume of hyaluronic acid gel produces less visible projection. Injection depth and technique matter too. Product placed too deep or too superficially won't show the same volume-to-shape effect as filler placed correctly within the lip body and border. It's also reasonable to confirm authentic product was used, since counterfeit filler is unfortunately common. I'd go back to your injector, ask exactly how many mls were placed and where, and discuss whether additional product or a different injection pattern would get you the fullness you want.
Clinical Context
Lip filler results depend on how much product was actually placed, how your tissue responds, and how much swelling is still present. Fuller results often need time to settle, and hyaluronic acid gel continues to hydrate and soften over one to two weeks after injection. Comparing photos at rest and while smiling helps show whether the lips look smaller due to muscle movement rather than true lack of volume. An in-person check with your injector is the most reliable way to sort this out.
