I want my abs tighten and excess skin removed. What procedure would you recommend? How much will it cost?
For tightening abdominal muscles and removing excess skin, an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is the operation that actually addresses both problems at once. Diet and exercise can't fix a stretched abdominal wall or loose skin — the muscle diastasis is a structural issue, and skin that has lost elasticity won't retract on its own. During surgery we tighten the rectus muscles with sutures, which narrows the waistline, then remove the excess skin and reposition the belly button. Liposuction is often added to refine the flanks or upper abdomen if there's extra fat that liposuction alone would suit better than excision.
Cost varies by region, extent of muscle repair needed, whether liposuction is combined, and surgeon/facility fees, so it's not something I can quote without an exam. A general description of your abdomen and goals is helpful, but photos aside, an in-person consultation lets us look at your skin quality, muscle separation, and fat distribution to give you an accurate plan and price. Find a board-certified plastic surgeon near you for that evaluation.
Clinical Context
The rectus abdominis muscles run down the middle of the abdomen, held together by a band of connective tissue called the linea alba. Pregnancy, major weight changes, or genetics can stretch and separate this tissue, creating a bulge that exercise alone can't correct. Skin that has been stretched loses some natural elasticity over time and often doesn't retract fully once the muscles beneath it are tightened, which is why surgical removal of the excess is usually needed rather than expecting the skin to shrink on its own.
