If I get botox in my lip, can it mess up my smile?

It's difficult to say without more information about where the botox is being injected (e.g. gummy smile vs. lip flip). Botox does result in muscle relaxation so theoretically, depending on the area treated, there might be a "stuck" feeling. Typically, when done properly, Botox should look natural. Make sure to consult with an experienced, board-certified provider.

Clinical Context

A lip flip relaxes the upper lip muscle so it curls slightly when you smile, while gummy smile treatment targets different muscles that lift the lip. Because these areas are separate, a skilled injector can treat one without affecting the other. Botox effects build over about two weeks, so results are usually assessed after that point, and doses are often kept conservative at first to preserve natural lip movement and smile symmetry.
