If tegaderm irritates my skin, would it be a bad idea to get breast implants?
Tegaderm sensitivity is a skin issue, not an implant issue, so it shouldn't disqualify you from breast augmentation. Tegaderm is an adhesive film dressing applied over the incision, separate from the implant itself, which sits beneath the breast tissue or muscle. There's no mechanism by which a reaction to that adhesive would affect how your body tolerates a saline or silicone implant.
That said, tell your surgeon about the sensitivity ahead of time. There are alternatives: paper tape, silicone-based tapes, or simple gauze and a supportive bra, depending on incision location and your surgeon's preference. Some surgeons also use skin glue instead of an adhesive dressing altogether.
At consultation, a board-certified plastic surgeon can look at your skin history and plan the closure and dressing accordingly, so this shouldn't be a barrier to moving forward.
Clinical Context
Skin irritation from adhesive dressings like Tegaderm is a local reaction to the adhesive itself, not something related to how your body heals around an implant. Many people with adhesive sensitivities do fine using alternatives such as paper tape, silicone-based tape, or skin glue over the incision. If you know certain adhesives irritate your skin, mention it before surgery so your surgeon can pick a dressing that suits your skin and incision location.
