What profile implants should I choose?
The right profile for breast implants depends on your current breast tissue, your goals aesthetically, as well as the width of your chest wall. A low profile offers a wide base and minimal forward projection, which is typically best suited for broader chests that are looking for a more subtle look. Moderate profile implants feature a balanced width as well as standard projection, being more ideal for a natural look on most body types. High profile implants offer a narrow base with maximum forward projection, creating a full, round shape and pronounced cleavage. This is more often used for narrower frames. It is important for your surgeon to match the base width of the implant to your chest width so it sits naturally as well as considering your goals for the Breast Augmentation. One implant manufacturer, Mentor, even has an in between shape called moderate plus. The best choice is to go back to your plastic surgeon and review your options.
Clinical Context
Implant profile describes how the same volume is shaped: higher-profile implants have a narrower base and project further forward, while lower-profile implants spread wider with less projection. Your chest wall width sets a natural limit—an implant wider than your breast footprint can push fullness toward the armpit or center, while one too narrow can leave the outer breast underfilled. This is why base width, not just cup size or profile name, is central to a natural-looking result.
