Is Botox Appropriate for Nasolabial Lines?

Botox is generally used to soften wrinkles between the brows, forehead, crows feet, and bunny lines, and other areas where you don't need movement. Fillers are more appropriate for correcting nasolabial folds. It is best to have a consultation with an experienced injector in order to determine what will best address your needs.

Clinical Context

The nasolabial fold lies close to facial blood vessels, so filler placed there requires careful technique to avoid vascular injury. Botox works differently—it relaxes muscle activity rather than adding volume—so its main risk is spreading to nearby muscles, not vessel injury. Because the two treatments affect tissue in different ways, they aren't used for the same purpose, which is why fillers, not Botox, are chosen for nasolabial folds.
