Is Burning Sensation Normal Weeks After Lipo and Tummy Tuck procedures?
I'm 5 weeks post op with Tummy Tuck and Liposuction. Is it normal to feel like the inside of me is raw or burning? How long will it take it before it's safe to go without having the compression garment on? Some days, I feel as if the compression garment is rubbing me raw, but when I check my skin it's fine. My back is really sore from the liposuction and I can still feel where the liposuction was inserted. Also, should I massage my skin more often in a day?

In addition to the answers listed below (and I agree that this is most likely normal) - it is important to gauge your progress. Do you think the pain is getting worse or staying the same as the weeks go on? All post-operative concerns, especially pain, should be directed to your treating physician. I hope this helps!

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and repairs separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), which commonly occurs after pregnancy or significant weight loss. The procedure involves an incision from hip to hip, typically placed low enough to be hidden by underwear or a bikini.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon for any cosmetic procedure.
